Netflix, Stan, Hulu, literally every streaming service in the world has been given a run for its money this year, being relied on in the time of lockdown as a major crutch to pass the time. But even though things are slowly starting to get back to normal, those streaming services are still there! And they’re producing plenty of addictive content, ripe for the watching. But if you’re at a bit of a loss on what there actually is to watch out there, what titles are begging to be clicked on, don’t worry; we’ve got you. Check out a couple of dope titles that you need to get on, like right now.
The detective drama that’s stolen our hearts, Netflix thriller The Sinner follows American film veteran Bill Pullman as he investigates crimes committed by unlikely suspects and attempts to uncover their true motives. The show is a true tribute to the detective genre, and all of the psychological warfare inherent to it. If you’re a lover of the detective genre, you should definitely check this one out. New episodes are streaming on Netflix now.
It’s no secret we’re huge fans of Yellowstone, and it’s hard not to see why. Acting god Kevin Costner is more than his element as he rallies against the developers plotting to take over his land, fighting fire with fire and doing whatever it takes to defend his home. The season three premiere aired on Stan yesterday, and of course its every bit as hard-hitting and impactful as it’s predecessors.
A melting pot of hilarity and ridiculousness, Netflix reality show Selling Sunset follows a group of Los Angeles real estate agents from Oppenheim Group and how they navigate their personal & professional lives. It features all of the drama, chaos, excess and straight up insanity you’d expect from a show about a bunch of real estate agents, in LA and it’s properly addictive. Definitely check it out.
Even though Eurovision isn’t going ahead this year, we got the next best thing (or maybe even better). Reuniting for the first time since 2005’s Wedding Crashers, Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams star as aspiring Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir who are representing their country on the world stage. Wedding Crashers director David Dobnik is also helming the film, so no doubt this is gonna be a comedic goldmine. Kudos to Netflix for pulling this one together. You can suss this one out on Netflix later this week n June 26.
The legendary vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows returns for its second season, and of course it brings all the laughs and more from the original. Featuring some super awkward set-ups and gorgeous one-liners, the hilarious modern retelling of the vampire phenomenon is absolutely soul invigorating, and more than stays true the spell-binding humour of Taika Waititi’s 2014’s original. It’ll be out June 25 on Fox Showcase.
