Trinidad James’ infamous hit has influenced it all, it seems. In commemoration of its 50^th anniversary as one of the world’s best surf and action sports brands, Vans will be offering a new gold-detailed collection that draws on some of the most iconic designs from its past. Think the checkerboard pattern, the Sidestripe, even the vintage aloha floral print – plain and simple, this is a range drawing on the highlights, designs that for the last 50 years have made Vans products unmistakable the world over.

 The collection, appropriately dubbed the ‘Gold Pack’, features a unique gold ornamentation in every one of its designs, everything from classic Vans shoes like the Authentic and the Era 59 to the familiar Old Skool and Sk8 Hi. These are the same skate shoes that no doubt survived day after day at the skate park, and the Midas touch only adds a whole new layer to a timeless style. Look no further than the anniversary edition Sk8 Hi – same premier shredding ability we all know and love, throw in the gold streak for maximum effect.

 For those of us with dozens of Vans sneakers already piling up in our closets, there’s also an especially fresh line of apparel and accessories, including quite a few gold and black floral print designs inspired by the ‘Grandfather of Surfing’, legendary Hawaiian surfer Duke Kahanamoku. An even cooler version of the Sk8 Hi, a 6-panel snap-back, and a trio of variations on the good ol’ pocket tee are all worth a look.
