Once again, Calvin Klein are deepening their connection with the LGBTQI+ community.

It’s no secret that indigenous Australians have been marginalised by years of structural discrimination and wounded by the continued trauma from European invasion. It’s why we march on January 26th, it’s why we believe Australia needs an indigenous voice enshrined in the constitution. Fact.

You may not be aware however, that a less-known group within our nation’s first people, the LGBTQI community, is also in dire need of support in the face of additional intolerance, which is where charity organisation BlaQ steps in. BlaQ is working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQI+ toward a future where all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, sistergirls, brotherboys, queer and non-binary themstars are valued and safe in all aspects of society.

BlaQ have just received a boost from iconic fashion label Calvin Klein who have pledged a minimum $100K donation over three years, plus they will also donate 30c from the sale of every Pride item in Australia during 2021 to support BlaQ. Calvinklein.com.au will also accept donations from customers from 16th February 2021.

“We at BlaQ are extremely humbled and excited to be supported by Calvin Klein, a brand that celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion in everything they do,” William Trewlynn, BlaQ Founding Director & CEO says. “The alignment with such a globally credible brand will help immensely to bring awareness to the injustices our community face on a daily basis, and help promote positive change. The generous donation will indeed allow us the ability to really support the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQ+ Elders, young people and community. Watch this space!”
