Ever thought your life was hectic enough to fill the pages of your very own comic book? Well, the folks at CHILDE Eyewear share a similar teenage fantasy, excitedly relaying the news that their ambassador Moody Beach is the basis of a new comic book series, launching this Saturday.
Titled Assembly of the Wild, the first saga will semi-autobiographically recount the origin story of Moody Beach – known offstage as Melissah Mirage – as she navigates her corporate and artistic lives. In true comic book fashion, the story will involve an expected dose of superhero magic, with a synopsis that reads:
“As [Melissah’s] name grows in the arts, she faces trouble at work due to her newfound notoriety. Choosing between her job and a music career seems inevitable, but Mel has a plan to silence her critics, and it may just involve some sweet supernatural intervention.”
Assembly of the Wild was co-written by both Mirage and Geordie Crawford, with illustrations by Jess Kitty Parker. It marks the first entry into what will be an ongoing comic label known as Tunnel Comics. To celebrate what looks to be an illustrious canon, there’ll be a launch party for both the new label and the first entry this weekend (May 28) at Gould’s Book Arcade.
