This time, they’ve jumped out of Asia and onto the West Coast, with their first North American flagship store on Hermosa Beach, California now open for trading. The South Bay surfing hub has a long history with Globe and its core team, with founder Matt Hill residing in the area while establishing the brand’s American presence in the 1990s. And while Globe have been considering opening a US store for 15 years, now is the perfect place, and the perfect time.
“The South Bay in Los Angeles has been our home for Globe for over 20 years here in America, and so we couldn’t be prouder to launch our first U.S. retail store right here in Hermosa Beach. We look to place our stores in culturally relevant locations for the Globe brand with its skate and surf roots, and Hermosa is a perfect fit for us. The local support for the cabin launch proved that,” Hill said.
The store launch featured appearances from Globe surfers and skaters including Mark Appleyard, David Gonzalez, Damien Hobgood, Paul Hart, Sammy Montano, Eric Geiselman and Rodney Mullen. Check out a preview of the space below, and pay them a visit at 140 Piear Ave, Hermosa Beach:
