Essentially an altered version of the timeless Reebok CL, the ‘Classic QS’ follows King Kendrick’s previous designs – the ‘Classic Leather’ and ‘Ventilator’ kicks – in drawing inspiration from the ambition of gang unity, or at the very least, neutrality. This certainly isn’t the first time the emcee has tackled issues like this – nor even the first time he’s used the red/blue motif to express a message of harmony and acceptance – but it’s interesting to see how it plays out in a footwear collab.
With a skull grey upper, the sneaker features red and blue accents on opposite feet, as well as an inverted stitch running its length. As a nod to the central message of unity, only half of the Reebok branding is used on each sneaker, with the other shoe completing the puzzle. What’s more, the familiar “Reebok” text near the eyelets has been erased except for the “K.”
