Trip down memory lane…

Kevin Durant is definitely fearless in and out of basketball, his presence on the court equally matched by his bravado as a designer. Ever since he first linked up with Nike he’s been exploring how methods of design interact with performance, constantly experimenting to find the ultimate shoe that looks dope, feels great, and helps the wearer ball like an absolute boss. Now, a decade since he first started the adventure with Nike, he’s unveiled his latest sneaker in the KD14, throwing it back to the KD4 with the return of a special feature.

Specifically, the sneaker sees the return of the midfoot strap, returning for the first time since the KD7. The other design elements of the shoe also take influence from the Air Presto, specifically with the strap on the inside of the shoe. In terms of other technical specifications, the shoe has a full-length Air Zoom strobel that runs through the midsole, providing additional cushioning while simultaneously reducing the weight of the midsole and upper (talk about bang for your buck).

Speaking on the new kick, Durant said “It’s been a while since we incorporated the strap, which excites me. My other favourite part about the shoe is the cushioning, which helps me feel low to the ground and still helps give me some of that energy back.”

The first shoe is set to drop in the United States on April 15 for $150 USD ($196 AUD) in the black and white version, with more colours expected to drop in the coming months around the globe. For now, check out some pics of the kicks below and get keen.
