Michael Jordan, the basketball phenom known for his gravity-defying dunks and crying face meme, wasn’t always rocking the iconic Jordan sneaks the world associates him with today. In what’s sure to be welcome news to the small minority of converse wearers still in existence, there was a time when he was religiously wearing All-Stars. And now, you have the chance to own a piece of sneaker history by bidding on a pair of Michael Jordan’s game-worn Converse All-Stars from 1983. It’s like owning a time machine, except instead of going back in time, you’re stepping into the shoes of a basketball god. A pair of very smelly, worn out and unhygienic shoes.
The coveted kicks, a size 12.5, come in a classic white leather design with subtle hints of navy. They were worn by MJ during the Pan-Am games, where he clinched his first gold medal with Team USA. They definitely have seen some of the absolute peaks of young MJs rise to superstardom, complete with his intense rivalries and sweat-soaked triumphs (emphasis on sweat). And don’t worry, the shoes are legit, accompanied by a letter of provenance and photo match LOAs.
But its safe to say that if you’re like me and are getting totally fucked by the current price of living, you might have a little trouble getting in with a fighting chance, as bidding starts at a cool $10,000 USD.
On the off chance you’ve got the dosh, however, be sure to head to Great Flannel for more deets. For now, check out the kicks below.
