Call it ‘the Vans effect’…

At this point, Vans have become so ubiquitous that they’re worn just as often by non-skaters as they are by industry pros. But Vans’ latest silhouette, The Wayvee, sees a return to the brand’s skate-enthusiast roots, with a little help from Ohio legend Justin Henry

The Wayvee, much like its namesake skater, is built from the ground up in earthy tones which pay homage to Justin’s hometown skating communities and beyond. With Justin’s name debossed on the heel and an array of black leather side stripes, the coffee bean-coloured drop looks and feels like a wearable origin story for down-to-earth skaters across the globe.

But aside from its style, the drop gives back to communities like Justin’s with a skate-focussed design. Like Justin’s own technique, the Wayvee is streamlined, with hi-tech staples like cupsole support and ripstop. The result feels like somewhat of a gift on Henry’s part, giving homegrown skaters both steeze and support as they continue their grind.

Elsewhere, Justin completes the wardrobe with a range sweaters, crewnecks and cuff beanies. All stitched with a vintage feel that matches the collection’s old-timey brief, the apparel line features callbacks to Justin’s love of basketball and an embossed leather belt to seal the deal.

Vans’ new Wayvee with Justin Henry is available from November 4 at retailers or online. You can catch more from the drop below, or visit Vans’ website.
