Aside from crafting some the catchiest R&B and dancehall-infused tracks in recent memory, Rihanna has confidently established herself as one of the most powerful women in the pop sphere. Whether its the inclusive nature of her sprawling makeup line, or high-profile appearances on the big screen, RiRi seems to be everywhere – and now she’s revealed another chapter of her longstanding relationship with Puma in the Fenty AW17 line.
Previously, Rihanna’s venture with the sportswear giant has been extremely well received, curating looks from the more goth-reliant to pastel frills, and yes, those fluffy slides which have seemingly blessed the feet of every girl in existence. Now, for her AW17 collaboration collection, Rihanna champions a back-to-school theme filled with varsity letters, plaids and vibrant stripes.
The collection sees RiRi unveil even more of her hugely popular creepers, this time arriving in a modified version with an ankle strap, while an oversized teddy bear backpack is a statement accessory and a half. Matching tracksuits are loud enough to continue Fenty’s tradition of head-turning looks. “I wanted the entire collection to be very diverse. I wanted different silhouettes, I wanted small silhouettes, I wanted huge silhouettes, I wanted colour, stripes, plaid; I wanted to play around, and I felt like a back-to-school theme was the best way to do that,” Rihanna said.
Locally, Sydneysiders will be able to shop the Fenty AW17 line with the arrival of a pop-up store at Foot Locker’s flagship store at 542 George St. The temporary shop will only be open from Thursday, September 28 to Sunday, October 1, from 9:00am to 9:00pm each day. Keeping in line with the theme, the upstairs space will be transformed into a college dormitory, and will feature DJs and giveaways throughout the four days.
