Paying tribute to the finest…

Vans are coming through hard for their second MoMA collab of 2020, using the works of art world legends like Jackson Pollock, Edvard Munch, Lybov Popova, and Faith Ringgold as inspiration for the new collection.

Artworks referenced include Jackson Pollock’s One: Number 31, Edvard Munch’s The Scream, and Lybov Popova’s Untitled from 1917. It also features Faith Ringgold’s own sick as hell feminist poster art into the new range, drawing from Woman Free Yourself, Freedom Woman Now and Seven Passages to a Flight.

Speaking on the partnership with MoMA, Head of Global Footwear Design for Lifestyle Footwear Angie Dita said “Our collaboration with MoMA is a true partnership that involved working together to select both the works and footwear to ensure an authentic connection between the art and the canvas footwear models we chose. Faith Ringgold worked closely with both the Vans design and MoMA teams to story tell through the details, bringing in quilted borders to contextualize her work atop Vans.”

The art-heavy collab also features multiple clothing and accessories styles, covering everything from T-shirts, hoodies, hats, backpacks and more.

The second collab by Vans and MoMA is set to be released on November 11. You can find out more from Vans.com or store.moma.org.
