Following years of grinding away on the local circuit as part of indie bands Lorelei and Betty & Oswald, Sydney songstress Claudia Schmidt is embarking out on her own for her new solo project, Claudia Forever. And now, she’s shared the second single from the much-buzzed about project.
Titled ‘Stay Or Go’, the new release delves into a more energized and hyperpop-flecked territory, exploring the complexities of a love that seems to go around in circles, leaving both individuals in a relationship grappling with unanswered questions. Blending her confessional brand of indie-pop with a glistening synth-heavy soundscape, the new sound from the in-demand muso is a refreshing change of pace that it’s almost impossible not to get around.
The accompanying visualiser follows Claudia in an intimate home movie-style video shot across various locations in Sydney. Captured on a camcorder by her close friend and Sydney bassist, Rosie Fitzgerald, the video embodies the the song’s themes of perpetual motion and indecision to a ‘t’, and offers a more personal and authentic vein of storytelling.
It’s a solid offering from the Sydney mainstay. Claudia Forever’s new single ‘Stay Or Go’ is out now. Be sure to check it out above.
