Looking for some new Aussie tunes to chuck on your player? We got you.

Ok, so you’ve survived the peak holiday partying period another year. Congratulations. But now it’s time to get back into the swing of things and attending gigs/finding some new acts to put on you post-summer playlist, which is why we are bringing you some of our favourite new music local acts. Take a listen, follow our playlist, and get out there and catch these bands live.

Narla – ‘Am I Sane’

The Sydney three-piece that are part prog, part blues, part psych have just released their debut video, and it’s an absolute cracker. We premiered ‘Am I Sane’ a couple of weeks back and it’s hard not to keep returning to the riffy and tense track. Narla are hitting the road for a run of East Coast shows this Feb with support from Kimono Drag Queens, and you don’t want to miss out on it – info here.

The Uplifting Bell Ends – ‘Listen’

Not sure how we missed this one when it dropped, but what a lovely tune. Incredibly reminiscent of Victoria-era Kinks in the best way, it’s clear that these guys know how to master the sounds of yesteryear, as well as the ‘good time’ sentiments. No wonder that local purveyors of weird, Third Eye Stimuli, wanted a piece.

Dande and The Lion – ‘Audley’s Talking’

There’s something really hypnotic about this track from Sydney’s Dande and The Lion. Dreamy vocals with harmonies for days, ‘Audley’s Talking’ is the heartstrung piece of pop music we need right now. They had a busy back end of 2018, playing a bunch of shows up and down the East Coast, clearly in hot demand.

The Melodrones’ – ‘R.I.P. Hollywood’

Who is Rik Saunders? He’s the frontman of new “rock and roll” outfit The Melodrones. The opinionated singer, who is currently based in Manchester, wears his mind on his sleeve and knows how to construct an alt-pop tune. As you can see from his debut single ‘R.I.P. Hollywood’ he has no shortage of attitude.

Beau Lightning – ‘Last Night’

Adelaide psych-rocker Beau Lightning’s debut tune ‘Last Night’ definitely carries all the elements you want to be hearing in a rock tune; huge vocals, wailing guitars, and a shitload of swagger. Looking forward to hearing more from this guy in coming months… or maybe even a video.
