Fingers crossed.

There’s a plethora of festivals happening in Australia over the new year period, and Sydneysiders are patiently waiting for NYD soiree Field Day to drop its lineup.

Field Day has brought the best in hip-hop, dance and indie to Sydney on the first day of the year – and 2019 is fast approaching. While we’re not sure when the Field Day lineup is going to drop, we’ve made a few educated guesses as to who might be on the 2019 roster. See 7 of our picks below, keep your fingers crossed, and prepare for another massive NYD in Sydney:

CARDI B

Cardi B has just been announced on the lineup for Perth festival Origin Fields which runs from December 30 to 31, and according to Music Feeds, she’ll only be playing one other Australian show on her debut visit down under. Let’s hope that that the ‘Bodak Yellow’ breakout rapper will be announced on the Field Day lineup, because we know a stack of Sydneysiders would be front and centre for her set.

MIGOS

Cardi B’s husband, Offset will also be in the country this December as a member of Migos – and it looks like they might be spending NYD together as a family. The Atlanta trap trio were also announced on the bill for Origin Fields this morning, and Music Feeds reported that Migos would also only be playing one other show on this Australian tour. We hear Field Day calling, and after their 2017 tour, we’re excited.

THE KOOKS

Field Day might be known for bringing the best talents from hip-hop and dance to Sydney, but they also have a strong history of touring indie acts, too. After all, it’s nice to hear some guitar riffs amongst all the pounding bass and thumping BPM, and that may come courtesy of The Kooks. The UK band are the first act to be revealed for Melbourne festival Beyond The Valley which runs from December 28 to January 1, so an interstate trip might involve Field Day.

AJ TRACEY

Field Day organisers Fuzzy have brought out plenty of UK emcees over the past few years, and especially in the midst of the global grime explosion. They’ve toured the likes of Skepta, Stormzy, Dave and Little Simz, and it looks like we might be able to add AJ Tracey to that list. The West London emcee toured Australia for the first time in September 2017, and will be making a return for Origin Fields in 2018 – so there’s a big chance he’ll be welcoming 2019 onstage in Sydney.

SAMPA THE GREAT

Homegrown emcee Sampa The Great has been building a strong buzz around Australia and internationally, which would make her a splendid addition to Field Day’s 2019 lineup. While she’s currently trekking throughout Europe, she’ll be spending the 2018/2019 transition in Australia playing festivals like NYE On The Hill, and we’re hoping Field Day, too.

DUKE DUMONT

Last year, Duke Dumont played Fuzzy’s other hallmark event, Listen Out. In 2018, he played a standalone show at For The Love in Melbourne back in May, and Perth fans will get their dose of the house favourite at Origin Fields. With Perth and Melbourne taken care of, we can only imagine that Sydney is next, and Field Day is on the cards.

BHAD BHABIE

Okay, this one might be a bit of a stretch – but as reported by MTV last month, it looks like the viral star turned rapper is about to announce some Australian dates, or in her own words, “Australia, u hoes next.” Novelty acts like PSY have toured Australian festivals in previous years, but Bhad Bhabie is already proving herself as a real hitmaker beyond a meme – and we can’t think of a better Australian introduction than Field Day.
