It’s a pretty exciting time for globally sport and fashion brand, adidas, right now, with the renowned tastemaker hot off the launch of its new campaign, “We Gave the World an Original, You Gave Us 1000 Back”. To give some context, the campaign is a celebration of the iconic adidas Originals Trefoil logo and its decades-spanning history. From being adorned by prominent figures in sport and fashion to becoming one of the most recognisably pieces of insignia in the world, the Trefoil has just about done it all.
Now, however, adidas Originals are turning their attention Down Under, shining a light on the local creatives, talents and community figures that embody the Trefoil to a tee. In doing so, they’re expanding the story of the trefoil while fostering a sense of community among Australian creatives.
In Sydney, adidas Originals has cultivated ties with local favourites such as Baba’s Place and Valentinas, Creative Studio Babekuhl, nail artist Mannequin Hands and artist-led hip hop collective, One Day. In Melbourne, adidas Originals have tapped Brunswick locals A1 Bakery, Collingwood Yards residents Good Sport Magazine, Haus of Dizzy, West Footscray’s Migrant Coffee and Moree. It’s a massive group of artists and individuals. Yet, adidas Originals have managed to inject some intimacy into the mix, shooting a series of intimate portraits that showcase their stories.
To top things off, adidas Originals will be teaming up with its new Aussie community for series of events and activations throughout the first three weeks of November. These events are not only meant to celebrate local culture and talent but also to highlight the trailblazers in these respective cities and serve as inspiration for emerging creatives.
