Feel like I’m in Berlin right now…

Australia’s favourite adrenaline junkie Alex Hayes today releases his debut single ‘XI,’ and it’s well worth the wait. Longtime followers of Alex would know this has been coming for quite a while now, the Northern Beaches born thrill-seeker teasing music for years both on his early Youtube Videos and his now mammoth Instagram. And today, the day has finally come.

The new track ‘XI’ sees Alex venture into the world of progressive and melodic techno, drawing upon his experience of storytelling over YouTube and translating it into the frequencies. Naturally, the track is a pretty cool embodiment of his online personality, the blend of euphoric synths, hard-hitting drums and chant-like vocals finding a sweet balance between wild as fuck and wise beyond belief.

A personal favourite is that second drop around three minutes in, the hazy synths flickering and colliding in a hypnotic build up. The pounding 808s and horns make their way back in as Hayes lets loose on that drop, letting you know that you can’t box him in, and regardless of all of the glitz and glam that comes with being a high profile figure, he’s an artist first. Also that he’s just a total beast of a producer.

Speaking on the new tune, Alex explains “Over 12 years of experience editing videos has given me an awareness of music, and the power of storytelling by mixing visual art with sound. I always dreamed of making my own music to go with the adventure videos I was making.”

“My ultimate goal was to create music that invites presence, furthering into an experience, a journey a story told through sound. So pumped to do that on my own label, Live Daily Records. My passion for music has always been at the core of who I am.”

Definitely a sick release from the young muso, no doubt with many more to come. Be sure to follow Alex on Instagram here and follow his Spotify profile here to stay up to date on all of his latest releases.
