James Corden’s The Late Late Show has had a hell of a lot of stories, plenty of insane anecdotes that make you wonder whether they even happened (we’re sure a couple are fake, but that’s beside the point). But, it’s quite possible that Anderson .Paak takes the cake for insane talk show stories, talking about the time he ditched a studio session with Kanye West and Dr. Dre to be on The Price Is Right.
Right! It’s kinda unbelievable. You have two of hip hops greatest producers in a room together, but your heart is being called to The Price Is Right. I’m not even gonna pretend I get this. Speaking on the decision, Paak said “The only thing is I had a session with Dr. Dre and Kanye West right before, and I had to leave that session early to get to The Price Is Right. I didn’t want to tell them I had to go to The Price Is Right. I was like, ‘Yo, I got this thing I got to do, you know…’ We got the work done, but man, it was the craziest day of my life: That session, going from there to The Price Is Right… it was amazing.” I totally don’t blame him for lying to Dre and Ye about where Ye was going. I can just imagine their disappointed and confused faces watching Paak sprint out the door.
Paak’s appearance on The Late Late Show (over Zoom, ofc) also saw the Ventura star give a rendition of his hit ‘Lockdown’, treating us to an intimate home jam as he raps while recounting the struggles of 2020. Of course the tune is a total beauty, with a gorgeous black and white filter that makes it feel like we’re watching a 50s jazz musician jamming out by himself in the studio. Check it below.
