Over the past two years genre-defying, Korean-Australian rap group 1300 have gone from strength to strength. A sold out national tour, syncs with NBA2K24 and Disney+’s ‘Australia Born Chinese, and the release of the acclaimed debut mixtape Foreign Language have contributed to the deafening buzz that will undoubtedly see the Western Sydney quintet emerge from underground before you can say Steve Jobs.
In a monumental move that solidifies their global presence they have officially signed with Eastern Margins, a renowned label, agency, and promoter, and have unveiled their latest single, ‘Lalaland’. “We love Eastern Margins, and we’re excited to join forces with a group of people who are dedicated to community and artistic integrity,” the group says. “They understand where we’re coming from because they’ve lived it, and are the perfect indie label for us to work with.”
‘Lalaland’ is a chaotic blend of electronica and rap that twists and turns as bars are unleashed over big drum samples. “This track is for the ravers, the chronically online,” the outfit explains. “It’s hard, nasty, confusing, it’s very 1300,” they say. “It’s inspired by old school tr808 drum machines like patterns, the big 808 behind it is what gives it a modern hip hop feel, electro and acid like sounds then felt appropriate.”

The music video for ‘Lalaland’ was co-directed by Raghav Rampal, known for his work on the award-winning ‘Oldboy’ video. It was produced during a period of isolation in a cabin in the Blue Mountains, resulting in a manic and captivating visual representation of the song’s themes.
1300 are about to embark on a five-date Korean tour… no word on upcoming Aussie shows – stay tuned.
