Alfie Templeman blends funk, psych, pop and everything in between on Radiosoul.

Fresh from the streets (or maybe even a flash apartment) in London, Alfie Templeman, the UK’s prince of indie has dropped his third album today, the funkified Radiosoul, perfectly syncing up with the long weekend which will give us ample time to sink out teeth into this layered gem.

“Every song is intentionally different from the last. It’s about the weird and the wonderful, the big, bright, bursting moments and the quiet, raw, reflective moments,” Templeman says of the LP. “Back when I started out, what really excited me was using music as a way of documenting my life. Each EP felt like a little diary entry, taking the last half a year of my life condensed into a few songs. This album really reminds me of that, but this time it looks back at my whole life.

“I finally feel a little more confident about fighting the darkness that will inevitably lurk around from time to time. This album is about turning 20: entering a new decade of your life and figuring out how you guided yourself to where you are now even if you don’t really know how.”

If you caught Alfie Templeman last time he toured Down Under, which was a couple of years ago AKA wayyyyy too long, you’ll know that his live shows are like church for indie-pop lovers. Here you’ll catch mass sing-alongs, dancing and maybe even the odd tear. So far, there’s no word on Aus dates for 2024… for now, all we can do is dive into this LP and wait…
