For someone who’s had a meteoric rise like Baker Boy, an artist who literally need no introduction, fame and acclaim often means living up to some sort of image that has been constructed for you. His career has been built on the back of uplifting party bangers that championed his culture while always offering a high-energy flow and no shortage of hooks. Now, with today’s single, things have shifted or, perhaps, levelled up…
“The positive reputation is still there, but I guess I’m getting into the more real side of things; some darker, grittier feelings, I’m letting that come out in my music more,” Baker Boy says. “Over the last couple of years, I’ve stepped out of what people want my music to be, and I’m just writing what I want to write. ‘PEACEKEEPER’ is me standing up and taking ownership but keeping that party vibe,” says Baker Boy.
This new era isn’t just about sound, there’s a notable visual and creative shift. The accompanying music video, filmed at Werribee Mansion, matches the song’s intensity with striking visuals, high-fashion aesthetics, and choreography that’s reminiscent of Kendrick’s halftime show. Co-directed by longtime collaborator Aurie Indianna and Jordan Ruyi Blanch, the clip brings Baker Boy’s vision to life, blending his dance roots with a bold new artistic direction.
