And what a road it’s been. From Mt Druitt outcasts, ignored largely by the music industry and deemed “too dangerous” to work with, followed by a police crackdown with cancelled shows and visas, that now-famous Kid LAROI show, a Netflix doco. All along the way, dropping music that was changing the culture of Aussie rap, shifting it from the party-hip-hop of the noughties into a drill-heavy force.
Now we have Look At Me Now, the group’s first full-length offering, 15 tracks that set the tone for the future of ONEFOUR, while ultimately paying homage to their roots, their postcode, and their community. As we’d expect from the slew of teased-out singles, the production is elevated, with beats having that big studio feel, juxtaposing nicely with the street-level attitudes and raps from the group.

Linking up with The Kid LAROI again, ‘Distant Strangers’ sees them lean on his pop sensibilities, while infusing it with their drill stylings – a formula that appears a few times on the record, showing the more vulnerable side of ONEFOUR. Meanwhile there are still plenty of hard hitters like the powerful ‘Father’s Day’ and euphoric opener ‘Change’.
