Smooth don’t begin to describe it.

Taking time out from performing at the world’s biggest festivals as the vocalist for Flight Facilities, Ric Rufio has today shared some solo work that is the sonic equivalent of being dropped into a tub of condensed milk. Rich, sweet and lush AF, ‘Slow Jam (1)’ is perfectly timed to ease us into the weekend.

The track sees Ric’s vocals harmonising over a low-fi beat as guitars and piano are sprayed throughout – we’re offered this groove that feels like it made for the club but also is so intimate and textured that listening on your headphones allows for an entirely different interpretation of the track.

“Even though I’ve produced for other artists, ‘Slow Jam (1)’ is actually the first song written and produced solely by me. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to do this, but maybe the intimate and deeply personal nature of the lyrics had something to do with it.”

The track follows on from his sizzler ‘Thunder’ which again sheds light on a different aspect to his musical persona. Clearly a man with many talents and many stories to tell, his hit percentage is the highest we’ve encountered in recent years, no matter what the genre.
