Following his record-smashing EP of 2022, Victoria, Melbourne-via-London Thomas Headon has again struck gold with his latest project…

From just the first listen of six songs that thomas headon likes and thinks that you would like too, we’re already confident that the countless praises and compliments that have been hurled his way over the years have all been true. Clocking in at number four at his ever-growing collection of EPs, the new project from the ‘Georgia’ singer is cheeky, playful and unabashedly heartfelt, a concoction that has earned him millions of streams around the world (we’re not joking, he’s literally got over 100,000,000 streams across the globe).

Beginning with the up-tempo ‘2009 TOYOTA’, Headon leans on his pop foundations for an easy going groove that reverberates around your head for hours on end. Following cut ‘Georgia’ is a soulful acoustic number that sees the Melbourne upstart dig into the more raw and raspy parts of his voice for a stirring reflection on a lost love.

It’s third record, ‘W4NNA DO’, that leaves the strongest impression, with the lead single starting with a cheeky “Do you guys have oat milk” from the man himself (if I had a dollar for every time I asked for oat milk) before he dives headfirst into a zesty rock bop that makes use of fuzzy guitars and punchy vocals about waiting on that special someone, with Headon emotively affirming that “It’s all I wanna do”.

The latter half of the EP is filled with emotional peaks and valleys , with Thomas putting it all on the line in the confessional ballad ‘I Loved A Boy’ (have a box of tissues on hand for this one) and fully immersing himself in his falsetto in ‘not saying goodbye’. EP closer, ‘wet tongue’, brings the project to an optimistic conclusion as he utilises distortion and lo-fi influences for a steamy love letter to a new flame (I mean, how much steamier can you get than the phrase ‘wet tongue’?

It’s an impressive collection of tracks to say the least, and it’s safe to say its a conceptual departure from Headon’s previous projects, with the multi-instrumentalist explaining, “These six songs are the first time that I’ve put together a collection of songs without a shared feeling, and more so just six songs that i fucking love, made for the my audience and hope they love too. I wrote these with some of my favourite people from all around the world and I’m so excited that everybody can finally have them, especially after I’ve been teasing them for months.”

It’s another home run for the international export, which makes him the perfect Artist of the Week. Be sure to check out the full EP above and buy/stream it here.
