Artist Of The Week: Young Franco Taps EARTHGANG & Jafunk For Bouncy 'Lose Control'

No stranger to collaborations or laid-back, funk-infused beats, Young Franco has cemented his place as one of Australia’s premier festival DJs. Over his decade-long career, he’s crafted breezy yet energised dance floors bangers which has seen him recently join the one-million-monthly-listeners club on Spotify. So, it should come as no surprise that he’s holding onto a USB or laptop full of gold, which brings us to today’s release, ‘Lose Control’.

Teaming up with Atlanta rap powerhouse duo EARTHGANG and Australian-bred, Europe-based producer and IG tutorial lord Jafunk, this collective has delivered what feels like the first “big” release of 2025 within the Australian dance scene. Upbeat, funky, and anthemic, the track is one of those earworms that puts your head into automatic bobble mode—a chiropractor’s worst nightmare.

‘Lose Control’ had been sitting in the Young Franco vault, marinating and waiting for the right time—or the right collaboration. “I had this beat lying around forever, and in this prolific summer period of 2023/24, there were so many cool artists I wanted to work with coming to town, and EARTHGANG was one of them,” he explains.

“We worked out the time to make it happen… I know those two boys are really loved in Australia. It was super exciting to get in, and they just smashed it out super quick. It’s sort of a representation of a lot of the older Young Franco catalogue. I think it ties well into a lot of the It’s Franky Baby! songs. So, I really wanted to make sure there was a track that covered all the genres and styles I like.”

Young Franco’s debut album it’s Franky baby! is due out January 24th (pre-order here) and It comes with news of a North America headline tour in March, with a run of Aus kicking of in Feb – dates below.
