Not the literal kitchen (that we cannot confirm nor deny) — we’re talking about the studio. His debut EP, which just dropped, and the slow release of each single are clearly the mark of someone who is meticulous about his output; someone who likes to make sure he’s got the recipe just right before unleashing it onto the hungry world.
At the core of Entertain You are these dancefloor-ready beats that have elements of ’80s dance music mixed with early 2000s EDM, feeling like sped-up Prince remixes. It’s beat-forward and a little funky, laying the perfect base for Dayshawn’s vocals to thrive.
The title track sets the stage (pun definitely intended) for what’s to come, letting listeners immediately know there’s going to be some up-tempo rap designed for the club getting injected into your earholes.
“‘Entertain You’ began as an idea — I wanted to make a song about performance and stage energy, the moment when an artist steps into the spotlight and the crowd locks into his vibe,” Dayshawn says. “I wanted to capture that exact feeling in a club record.”
Like what you’re hearing? Dayshawn is always popping up at shows around Sydney and the country, and we’ve heard that a national tour is incoming… head here to follow him now and stay up to date.
