The winner of the Battle of the Bands competition will score exclusive studio time, including mixing and mastering, at Studio 301. This recording studio is a legendary spot for recording artists in Australia, and it’s hosted some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Amy Shark, Guy Sebastian, Tash Sultana, ILLY, Jimmy Barnes, and The Chainsmokers. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is worth a whopping $4.5k and could be the career catapult that up-and-coming musicians have been dreaming of.
The Battle of the Bands competition has attracted three experts from across the music industry to judge the performances. Poppy Reid, the Editor-in-Chief at Rolling Stone Australia, is one of the judges. Alexander ‘Captain’ Franco, Senior Director of A&R at Sony Music and an Artist Manager who has worked with notable artists like G Flip, Peking Duk, Alison Wonderland, B Wise, and Cosmo’s Midnight, will also be judging the competition. But wait, there’s more! Sydney’s alt-rap group, Triple One, best known for their certified Gold single ‘Butter’, will also be joining the judging panel. These three music gurus will be picking the winner, so bring your A-game!

To enter the Battle of the Bands competition, interested artists must submit their expressions of interest via The Star’s website with their contact details, social handles, and heat preference. The deadline for submissions is on 9 March 2023 at 11:59 AEDT. The competition will take place in two heats, and eight selected finalists will receive a Sailor Jerry merch pack worth $200.
