Pedal steel guitar just got sexy.

Sydney neo-disco outfit Barley Passable have been busy over the past year or so. The duo, who recently stopped by the LWA office for a quick chat (see bottom of page), have been collecting artists to collab with, slowly drip feeding us what would become their new EP, Together.

The EP is kicked of with a delightful new single ‘By My Side’ featuring the vocal stylings of indie folk singer-songwriter Amber Rose who absolutely crushes. There’s some pedal steel guitar which on paper should be completely out of place over this kind of beat, but somehow works to perfection.

Over the rest of the EP we see Bread Club, Betty and Abby Bella May connect with the band, each offering a different flavour to the Barley Passable pie. It’s a dancey offering with splashes of melancholia interweaved throughout – basically dance music for thinking people, right?

Following this release, the band will head to Europe for eight weeks of writing and recording their next batch of music, before returning home in August for the to be announced headline shows. Follow them here for deets.
