The famed apartment, which is located in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighbourhood and is just a few blocks away from the street Biggie grew up on, recently sold for $2 million USD ($2.8 million AUD), after first hitting the market for $1.7 million USD ($2.4 million AUD) just three months ago.
The Brooklyn pad has undergone quite the makeover since the ‘Juicy’ rapper lived there in 1994, featuring a custom library, walk-through wardrobes, a chef’s kitchen, a wood-burning brick fireplace and plenty more ammenities to compliment its two bedrooms and bathrooms. But it wasn’t always so flash, with now-former resident Caroline Duncan explaining that before she renovated it in 2011 the condo was “just a raw space with concrete floors.”
Still, the apartment is a part of hip hop history, the Brooklyn-born rapper living there during the release of his debut album Ready to Die in 1994, which subsequently blasted him into the stratosphere. Since the rapper’s death in 1997 however the home has mostly stayed out of the limelight, with the exception of critically-acclaimed hip hop doco Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G from 2017.
