BROODS are serving up plenty of emotion and announcements this Wednesday morning, unveiling their latest single along with news of an upcoming album and tour…

The new offering, titled ‘Heartbreak’ is one of the bands most refined yet, stripped-back bass lines and synths clocking a steady pace as they set a retro mood. Staying true to form, singer Georgia’s vocals are perched on top with ease, the Kiwi muso making full use of the lower parts of her range as she sings about the loss of a relationship and the sense of grief that comes along with it.

The accompanying clip (directed by Dr D Foothead) follows on from the Space Island Chapter 1 video for ‘Piece of My Mind,’ however this time going the animated route as BROODS get psychedelic with space-themed visuals. The various animations are tied in with the sonics of the track as well, the hook and pre-chorus of ‘Heartbreak’ triggering cosmic explosions in the clip that build upon the Space Island cinematic universe.

Speaking on the meaning behind the new single, singer Georgia explains “We wrote this from a place of determination. Determined to learn from the loss of my marriage and keep my heart open in its most tender state. When I say, ‘Let your heart break’, I’m whispering to myself to stay present with the grief and transmute it into empathy.”

Along with the new single comes news of BROODS next body of work, the sibling duo announcing their upcoming album Space Island along with an accompanying Australia & New Zealand 2022 tour, where they’ll play the likes of the Metro Theatre in Sydney, The Triffid in Brisbane and 170 Russell in Melbourne.
