There’s some dire news for attendees of Falls Downtown in Fremantle, with headliner Childish Gambino pulling out from his appearance at the festival on January 7-8.
Donald Glover seems to have his finger in every pie possible, and this time his television career will take the front seat as he returns back to America for the Golden Globes, clipping his final Falls appearance in the process. “We have received word that he is in the running for a couple of nominations at the upcoming Golden Globes, and as a first time nominee and show creator he will be flying back to America prematurely,” Falls said in a statement.
While Childish Gambino is still set to perform at the festival’s dates in Lorne, Marion Bay and Byron Bay, there’s a gaping hole left in the Fremantle line-up – and “due to the proximity to Christmas and the requirements for Visas, getting an international replacement just isn’t possible.” Therefore, organisers have added King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard to the line-up, as well as Allday for those looking for their hip-hop fix.
