After we sent Chris Yee to review Tyga’s controversial gig, we decided to jump to the other end of the hip-hop spectrum by getting him to draw his thoughts on Common and Talib Kweli at The Enmore Theatre, making for a massive double-header show in the I-Dub.

Having been active for well over two decades, Common has acted as one of Chicago’s premier hip-hop exports and one of the most introspective emcees to step to the mic. And whether it’s solo or as one half of the legendary Black Star, Talib Kweli has long established himself as an active social commentator in hip-hop. It’s understandable then that while the night’s crowd was a lot older and a tad more tame, it’s still a diverse showing of punters who turned up to witness some live rhyming.
