What a homecoming…

Just a little over a week out from the first Smirnoff Origins with The Presets at Club 77, the beloved alcohol staple have gone ahead and announced the second instalment of the soon-to-be-classic series. Now, our eyes are turning to Brissy with dance duo, Crooked Colours, being the latest to step up to the plate.

Taking to their earliest stomping ground in Brisbane’s The Brightside on March 9th, the night will see the beloved Aussie groove veterans (made up of Phil Slabber and Liam Merrett-Park) not only take a trip down memory lane, but find Smirnoff’s next “Hottest Opening Act.” Similarly to the Presets’ gig in at Club 77, the chosen artist will be awarded a $5,000 performance fee, double gold tickets to Splendour in the Grass 2023 (valued at $1,200), their very own feature in Rolling Stone magazine (valued at $20,000), and Smirnoff Advertising support worth $30,000.

Speaking on the upcoming gig, Liam from the duo explains, “We’re excited to head back to The Brightside, a venue that’s stayed close to our hearts. It’s venues like The Brightside that play an important role in the music industry in helping emerging artists to find fans, hone their skills and get their big break” with Brightside owner Noah Honeywill adding, “Live music venues feed an entire ecosystem of industries that support the late-night economy across musicians, hospitality staff, restaurants and travel. Venues like ours help to lift and create culture and create a home for local artists to find their big break.”
