A sign of bigger things to come?

February 1, 2017

The last time we saw Daft Punk onstage was at the 2014 Grammys, where they played alongside their ‘Get Lucky’ collaborators. Come 2017, they’ll be returning to that same stage with a special guest.

For their first live performance in three years, the French legends will be hitting the 2017 Grammys for ‘Starboy’ alongside The Weeknd. The ceremony will take place on February 12 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, where The Weeknd will be up for an award due to his contributions on Beyonce’s Lemonade. Meanwhile, Daft Punk are not in the running for any awards in 2017.

Daft Punk and The Weeknd will join fellow Grammys performers including A Tribe Called Quest, Anderson .Paak, Dave Grohl, Adele, Bruno Mars, Metallica, John Legend and Alicia Keys, with the festivies hosted by James Corden.

While Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo didn’t tour their last album Random Access Memories, fans will be hoping that this gig is a sign of bigger things to come, and those Daft Punk touring rumours are still doing the rounds. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more extensive gigs from the robots sometime in the near future:
