Kanye west is definitely not the most popular kid in school right now, with Damon Albarn the latest to take shots at the rap icon during an interview on French publication L’obs. It’s over his alleged manipulation of former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney when producing the single and video for ‘FourFiveSeconds’ which also featured Rihanna.
In comments that seemed to gush from the Blur and Gorillaz frontman, Albarn took aim not only at Kanye’s use of sampling but also his treatment of the Beatles legend. “I do not sample, I create music. Do not get me started on Kanye West… Kanye West trapped Paul McCartney,” Albarn said.
Albarn suggested that Kanye was disrespectful to the rock and roll legend by allocating him such secondary role in the song and video clip. “It’s rude,” Albarn said. “I have a problem with this abusive collaboration: We’re talking about Paul McCartney, anyway! Kanye West thinks only of Kanye West, using a name to make headlines, saying, ‘McCartney is in my song.’ In addition, he puts McCartney in the video of the song, but not in the song itself.”

Albarn then went on to explain his attempts to thwart the recording prior to it taking place. “Before he decided to work with Kanye West, I sent a text message to McCartney saying, ‘beware,’ but he ignored it.” He then finishes with another dig. “Kanye West is one of those people who feed on other people.”
McCartney, when reflecting on his stint in the studio with the rapper, recently stated that Kanye spent most of the time looking at pictures of Kim Kardashian on his phone. Of the bizarre experience, he said, “I’m thinking, ‘Are we ever gonna get around to writing?!’ But it turns out he was writing. That’s his muse.”
Kanye is yet to take the bait from Albarn though it’s hard to imagine such a public diss will be quickly forgotten. Stay tuned.
