Fresh off the back of dropping one of the best projects of the year (hands down my favourite so far – and second place ain’t even close) Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats sat down with Complex to discuss the making of Unlocked.

The interview, which you can read here, dives into all things Kenny and Denzel; from their first introduction, to altercations over missing beats and their new Madlib/ Dilla/ MF DOOM/ Wu Tang Clan inspired project Unlocked. After revealing that Unlocked is just the first ‘episode’ and that the pair, “got a whole season of episodes to make,” Denzel Curry dropped a bombshell that is sure to excite fans even further.

“We also got Club Black Dust—that’s me, JPEGMAFIA, Slowthai, and ZillaKami. We’re gonna be like a boy band, but we’re gonna call ourselves a ‘man band’. I’ve been talking to Kenny about joining that shit.” Slowthai, who recently found himself in hot water following a meltdown at the NME Awards, has previously worked with Denzel on their collaborative track ‘PSYCHO’, while the pair also recently toured Australia alongside JPEGMAFIA with Listen Out Festival. ZillaKami and Denzel have history too, having teamed up on ‘DRAINO’, and by all means this potential dream team would be cooking up some genre-defying, boundary-pushing, good for the mind and soul, alternative rap, and Officer Kenny on the breaks would be a real deal sweetener. Here’s hoping that project comes sooner rather than later.
