Words by Gabriel Spadaccini
The video for ‘I Can’t Take It,’ for instance, isn’t a traditional music video but a short film entitled ‘Exit Through The Donut Hole,’ in which he plays a slightly depressed pink-frosted donut who kick-starts his own donuts rights organization. His most recent release, a collaboration with NGHTMRE called ‘Need You,’ warranted an even more ludicrous visual, with Dillon firing off the bass-heavy moombahton track at a kind of feeble white suburbia garden party. The result? Utter mayhem.
Because the internet clearly needs more of this hilarity, Dillon’s taken it upon himself to conceive a new show, a parody reality series called DJ World. With help from the god of Vine Nick Colletti and fellow electronic producer Getter – both of whom are comic geniuses in their own right – the series spoofs shows like MTV‘s ‘The Real World,’ pitting six ultra-stereotypical DJs against each other in a house with only three bedrooms. From the two-minute preview alone we can tell that this is going to be good.
While the official trailer arrived earlier this week, the first real episode – a profile of Getter’s flamboyant, blonde-haired character – premiered just a few hours ago. Check out the trailer and the first episode below, and be sure to get a look at Life Without Andy’s coverage of Dillon’s recent Australian tour here.
