The new track is taken from the band’s upcoming album, How Many Dreams?.

Fresh from supporting Arctic Monkeys in Sydney, beloved three-piece DMA’S are back with some new music for our Thursday morning. Titled ‘Fading Like A Picture’, the latest offering is taken from their highly anticipated fourth album How Many Dreams? (out March 31st) and sees the ‘Glow’ hitmakers double down on the heartfelt blend of rock and indie that they’ve become synonymous with over the years.

Built upon a sticky riff, the mid-tempo bop makes use of acoustic and electric instrumentation as singer Tommy O’Dell unleashes emotive vocals on top, as he sings about optimism for the future and acceptance of current circumstance. It’s a sentiment that seems to underpin How Many Dreams? as a whole, with guitarist Johnny Took explaining, “Our palette for this album was a lot broader because we’ve learned so much since our debut and we’ve listened to so much more music between then and now, which has shaped us. It felt like a first outing all over again. The excitement was the same”.

Speaking on the band’s collaborative process, Took adds, “Tommy wrote the majority of this song to an obscure demo I made during lockdown. When we all came together to demo it, Mason added one of my favourite guitar riffs on the new album, and we used the middle-eight from another demo as the chorus. A true DMA’S collaboration”.

It’s another classic track from the international exports and makes the wait for How Many Dreams? just a little more bearable. DMA’S new single ‘Fading Like A Picture’ is out now. You can buy/stream it here. Be sure to check out the video above.
