The hip hop world was shaken on Friday when one of the GOATs DMX suffered a drug overdose and was rushed to hospital, where he still remains in pretty rough knick. Since the news broke however rumours and speculation have run rampant, mostly due to his lawyer who told New York’s Pix11 News that X was removed from life-support and was “breathing on his own.”
Well, turns out that was total BS, with the same lawyer admitting hours later that he was wrong and that X was still on life-support as of Saturday night. Thus, rumours on his condition have since snowballed and misinformation has spread, prompting DMX’s family to issue statements to se the record straight.
Being delivered to TMZ and hip hop media outlet VladTV, the family said “We are issuing this statement to combat all the false and misleading reports that are circulating on social media.
“Last night Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must cross.”
“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl,” they added. “Earl is someone whose life and music has been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”
Definitely a rough time for the rapper and his family, who are reportedly flying in to see him in his time of need. Fingers crossed the hip hop legend makes it through and comes back stronger. For now, check out his iconic hit ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ below to be reminded of the total badass he is and always will be.
