Dune Rats Take On The Role Of Posties In ‘UP’ Visuals
Tax-day baby!

Getting in just before the end of 2021, hooligan trio Dune Rats have unleashed their new single ‘UP’ along with an off-chops music video, and it’s slightly different from what you’re probably expecting…

The new tune sees the Dunies delve into the realm of dance music, moving away from the punk and head-bangers they’ve become loved for and instead opting for a more summer-infused sound. Thus, the Dunies utilise pop-centric guitar lines and punchy vocals for the bop, singing about the inevitable joy that results from getting your tax back (when you don’t have to pay of course).

The dance-heavy nature of the tune is exemplified in the accompanying clip, the trio taking on the role of dance-obsessed posties as they go around delivering tax returns in Dune Rats’ hometown of Brissy. However, they run into a bit of mischief in an alley, ultimately being forced to fight off antagonists in the form of fellow muso Big Twisty and Matt Falcon from the Inspired Unemployed, as well as the rest of the Funk Nasty.

Needless to say, it’s filled with endless amounts of choreography, big dance numbers calling back to early 2000s pop videos as the Dunies put their larrikin-twist on the visual medium.

Speaking on the new sound, the trio explains “‘UP’ was written on the far South Coast of Australia in a small town called Eden We ended up making this feel-good banger that was way different from anything we’d written” while adding in regards to the music video “When thinking who else we could rope in for the fun time ahead, getting Bugs, Big Twisty & The Funknasty plus all our mates from Brisbane was a no-brainer.

“Getting to shoot this clip with them all was insanely fun.”

A welcome return for the coastal larrikins that I don’t think anyone saw coming. Do yourself a favour and dance the week away with Dune Rats’ new single ‘Up’ now. You can buy/stream ‘UP’ here.
