I hope you’ve had your Weet-Bix or coffee or a cheeky bump – whatever the fuck it is that wakes you up in the morning because DZ Deathrays have just unleashed a track so brawny it could flip over your car and set it on fire in one move. ‘All Or Nothing’ is a homage to the power of music in the form of a powerful track, which sounds way less meta when frontman Shane Parsons explains it. “It’s reminiscent of touring life and the idea that something like a guitar can bring so much joy and adventure to our lives,” he says.
The tune is the second single from their forthcoming record Positive Rising: Part 2, following on from last year’s ‘Fired Up’, and was apparently one of the hardest to finish in the studio with the trio re-writing the track in different keys “to try to see where it would go” before eventually settling on the version you’re hearing today.
Fuzzy guitars, grungey verses and an anthemic chorus come together in a 3.5 minute orgy of sonic delight on the track which is only getting us in the mood for the new record. Positive Rising: Part 2 (due out Friday 9th July) promises to be a moodier continuation of their 2019 sprawling rock saga Positive Rising: Part 1. Head here to pre-order.
