With The xx set to commence their gargantuan ‘I See You’ Australian tour this weekend, main support act Earl Sweatshirt has announced that he will no longer be accompanying the pensive trio Down Under.

The news comes after the passing of Earl Sweatshirt’s father, Keorapetse Kgositsile, last week. He was 79 years old.

Promoters Handsome Tours released a statement detailing the cancellation, saying “We regret to inform that, due to the recent passing of Earl Sweatshirt’s father, he must cancel his appearances as support for The xx this month. We sincerely apologise to those affected by this cancellation and send our sincerest condolences to Earl Sweatshirt at this time.”

Ear Sweatshirt’s headline show at 170 Russell in Melbourne has also been cancelled.

Meanwhile, The xx will continue their Australian tour as planned with Kelela, while a replacement for Sweatshirt has not yet been locked in.
