Ecca Vandal takes time out from dominating the world to shoot some Vans.

If there’s anyone who embodies the creative energy of Vans’ legendary Off The Wall ethos, it’s Ecca Vandal. The South African-born, Melbourne-based artist has amassed a loyal following for doing the opposite of what the industry would have her do – melding genres, uncompromising in her vision, and staunchly unique, she’s a generational talent who is currently treading the line between cult favourite and future icon.

“For me, Off The Wall is about allowing yourself to experiment, f*ck up along the way, stay curious, and to say yes to the weird ideas,” Ecca Vandal says. “A lot of the music and videos we’ve made started as ideas that probably shouldn’t have worked on paper.”

To mark the collaboration, she wears an equally eclectic shoe: the Premium Authentic 44 Mohair, which features shaggy mohair, suede panels, spikes and rhinestone studs that combine for a look that’s equal parts vintage and avant-garde.
