The British singer-songwriter has had an incredible 2018.

Pollstar.com have released some news that, for those of us who could barely name three Ed Sheeran songs, is somewhat surprising. No it’s not surprising that Ed Sheeran is popular, no it’s not shocking that he made sold a bunch of tickets to his ‘Divide’ tour, and no it’s not weird that he beat Taylor Swift, Jay Z & Beyonce, and more to take out the number one spot on the worldwide tour earner list – it’s the sheer amount of money grossed that’s really blowing us away (no pun intended).

Taking in a cool $600 million Australian dollars, the popstar sold nearly five million tickets to his shows that skimped on the lavish set designs most of the other listees incorporated, opting for a more intimate experience. With the ‘Divide’ tour continuing into 2019 (Sheeran has played 53 of the 94 shows booked) it is expected he will overtake the record set by U2 who grossed $1.02 billion on their ‘360’ tour over 2009/10.
