Another certified bop…

Queensland alt-pop princess Eves Karydas is starting our Thursday mornings with a bit of tenderness, opening up like never before in her latest tune ‘Freckles,’ out now.

Exploring the chaos of your 20s and the struggle to feel comfortable in one’s skin during the tumultuous period, the tune sees Eves totally explore her feelings of insecurity while reflecting on the past couple of years of her life. Musically, the beat is minimal but super vibrant, with colourful keys and guitars gently swirling between the pop sensation’s tender vocals. There are also a tonne of cool metaphors sprinkled throughout the tune that really drive home the overall message, one of which being the name of the tune itself ‘Freckles,’ with each lyrical freckle acting as a little metaphorical reminder of a point in the Queensland muso’s unique life.

Opening up on the new tune, Eves explains “Freckles has been years in the making. It’s a song I started a long, long time ago… it began as a small thought about the rush of growing up and has morphed, over the years, into a real lived experience. Now I’m halfway through my 20s I sing these lyrics earnestly and truthfully.

“Freckles is ultimately about finding my safe space in-amongst the chaos of my life. A place where I can tune out all my anxieties and fears. And that place, for me, is with the person I love most in the world.”

Pretty moving tune. Be sure to check it out. And if you’re in Queensland, check out the list of venues she’s hitting up below. You can cop tickets to those upcoming shows here.
