All throughout August, Bacardi Fuego Revolutions has hosted rambunctious parties to celebrate analogue music culture, bringing international flavour alongside local DJs to 77 in Sydney and Boney in Melbourne.

One local legend who appeared at 77 was none other than Kato. Originally from Newcastle, Kato now calls Sydney home and has earned his stripes as one of the city’s most respected and charistmatic selectors, with an ever-expansive record collection that’s indicative of his inspiring passion for music. Forming one half of techno duo Wordlife alongside DJ Chardonnay, he also hold releases on Motorik under his belt, as well as remixes for Claude VonStroke, The Presets and Anna Lunoe.

Covering everything from hip-hop to house, Kato’s enthusiasm in the booth is infectious, and his trusty TUNE rag has made countless appearances at Sydney clubs and festivals. We’re lucky enough to have an exclusive recording of Kato’s set from Fuego Revolutions, which is two hours of dancefloor education. Speaking on the set, Kato says:

“What a great pleasure to be involved in such a party but maybe I had too much fun this night. Listening back to this one reminded me that I’m luckily gifted with great track selection and record collecting obsession because mixing isn’t always my strong point… Please don’t listen too closely or you might hear things like me mixing in the wrong side of a record and flipping it over mid-mix or the dude knocking the [luckily empty] beer bottle on that beautiful Condessa Lucia [I can hear all the mixer nerds shaking their heads]. But thank you for listening and I hope you get as much enjoyment as i had faffing about in the DJ booth for an hour and a half.”
