Things just don’t seem to be stopping for Kwame ever since he stepped onstage at ASAP Ferg and delivered a freestyle in those funky boardshorts.

That night, Kwame turned from punter to performer when ASAP Ferg called him onstage to spit – and he impressed everybody so much that his impromptu performance became a definite highlight of the gig, and put him into an online spotlight that saw him interviewed by yours truly. Since then, Kwame has linked up with local streetwear heavyweights Geedup Co, supported Keith Ape with St O’Donnell and earned the Number. 1 track on the Triple J Unearthed hip-hop charts with ‘I Get It’.

Now, Kwame’s momentum seems to be buillding once more with the release of his new single, ‘Next’. Once again linking up with his seasoned colleague I Disgress, Kwame goes in over some alien production that sees him further push the boundaries of hip-hop in this country. And while Kwame sounds typically confident in his delivery, our conversation about the track sees him state his case even further.

“The single ‘Next’ catches me just having fun with the production of I Digress, following up with the simple message which informs everyone that what I’ve got going on with myself and my crew will be seen on both a national and global scale,” he says. “By being young, ambitious and ready to give 100 in everything that I do will show that good music is being made in Australia as of now.”

Take a listen to ‘Next’ below and be prepared to hear a lot more from Kwame as we head into 2017:
