A bittersweet announcement from the iconic Aussie festival.

You want the good news or the bad news first? Let’s start off with the good: we can confirm that Falls Festival will return over New Year 22/23, so that’s at least New Year’s sorted… The unfortunate news is that the Marion Bay Leg has been canned for this round. Sad, we know, but the silver lining is you Tasmanians have plenty of time to start planning your trip to the mainland to attend in one of the other states. Plus there’s a new festival site in Victoria: Pennyroyal Plains in Murroon.

After 27 years in Lorne and 17 in Tassie, organisers are obviously sad that they couldn’t make it happen next year, whilst also optimistic about what the future holds for Falls.

“It has been a privilege to operate Falls Festival in such beautiful locations and we’re so thankful to the Surf Coast Shire, Sorell Council and supporting stakeholders of Lorne and Marion Bay who have shown Falls Festival such incredible support over the years. We hope that our Lorne and Tassie Falls fam will join us at Pennyroyal Plains,” said Jess and Paul. “Lorne is where Falls Festival started so we want to give a particularly special shout out to the locals there. You have been instrumental in making the festival all that it is today, and we’ll always be grateful to the community for their long-time support.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Falls Festival to Colac Otway Shire for 2022/2023 and showcase our beautiful region to the musicians, event organisers, media and audience who will attend the three-day event. It will bring a much-welcomed boost to the local economy and a nice escape from the pressures of the last couple of years for music lovers near and far” said Colac Otway Shire Council Mayor, Cr Kate Hanson.
