Another Friday, another day of releases and we’ve collected five of our favourite tunes – all of which have dropped in the past 48hrs – for you to enjoy this weekend. It’s kind of like we’re your personal shopper for music, only you can’t pay us minimum wage and treat us like animals. Not that you would… just saying… Check out five new-born gems below, presented by Jim Beam:
Prepare to have yourself serenaded to near death with this one from The Paper Kites. ‘For All You Give’ is the first taste from their record Roses which is due out in 2021 and is made up completely of duets. Mysterious psych-folk artist from the Gold Coast, Black Rabbit George has just dropped his sophomore record – the aptly titled Warren. ‘Phased’ is one of the delightful sonic droppings that we’ve discovered in Warren which takes cues from Tame Impala, The Beatles, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and more. It’s hard not to listen to this one and not be missing the nightlife. The track is perfect for that smokey club dancefloor, with Mo’Ju (formerly Mojo Juju) combining a Michael Jackson-like vocal precision and some funky-ass bass, resulting in a clean but real track that we can see becoming a bit of an anthem for 2020… Surely everyone can relate to putting something on hold recently…

Nothing like a dreamy but of R&B/pop to ease your way into the weekend. ‘Life Happens’ which is taken from Jess Kent’s forthcoming EP Parking Karma (due Sept 18) sees her team up with producer Dave Hammer and deliver a fluttery, chillwave track that you’ll be humming all weekend. There’s something quite poignant about the ‘Life Happens’ philosophy right now that is hitting hard too:
We’ve been frothing on AMOK ever since the mysterious Sydneysider appeared on Spotify last year. His latest track is another trippy electro collage that twists and turns with a symphonic backing. If you’re a smoker, you’re gonna love this one. Blaze it up!
