With over a decade in the game, Future Classic have been cultivating some of Australia’s most impressive and genre-bending acts to hit the electronica scene. You only need to look at Flume’s incredible story – from playing weeknight club shows to two gigs in Sydney’s biggest arena – to realise that Future Classic’s work ethic is second to none. Now, the grandiose performances continue with Perth export Ta-ku, who will be playing two shows at the Sydney Opera House. With his Songs To Break Up To and Songs to Make Up To releases, he established himself as a master of moody soundscapes, as well as a style connoisseur with his Team Cozy project. At Vivid, he will be accompanied by collaborator Wafia, as well as a string quartet and kaleidoscopic visuals. We trippy mane!

New Zealand soul singer Aaradhna will be treating fans to her brand new live show at Oxford Art Factory, in anticipation of her forthcoming album Brown Girl. This time around, she’s been working heavily with Truth & Soul Records – who count Adele and Aloe Blacc as previous collaborators – so we can expect more than a few memorable gems showcasing Aaradhna’s powerfully touching vocals. The full-length will be released by Dawn Reid Entertainment – who’ve released material from Savage and The Deceptikonz – so please excuse us while we play the ‘Not Many (Remix)’ on repeat.

It’s a clash of the titans at Plan B Small Club, with Sydney’s premier rap party Halfway Crooks joining forces with dancehall jam Dutty Dancing on June 4. We can’t tell you have many great memories we have from Halfway Crooks – their Waka Flocka Flame medleys certainly rank as among the best – and this is set to be another for the ages. Given the sonic Caribbean explorations by the likes of Rihanna and Drake, this collaboration party with Dutty Dancing certainly makes sense, and expect their to be plenty of ladies killing the dancefloor when ‘Work’ and ‘One Dance’ drop. Perhaps most excitingly, Perth’s own style legend and selector Aslan will be making the pilgrimage from the West Coast for the event. Be warned: He owns a Nicki Minaj shirt and has the strongest beard in the game.

While Views hasn’t been as well received as Drake’s other albums, that hasn’t stopped the world from obsessing over The 6 God – and the evidence is right here. The Metro Theatre will be hosting Drakefest – a whole night dedicated to everybody’s favourite Canadian rapper/singer/meme/emo. We’re not entirely sure who’s actually playing, but we’re also pretty sure that a lot of punters don’t care – they’re promising at least 70% Drizzy tunes alongside Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and more. They’re also going to deliver Drake masks, stickers and cut outs which will look absolutely splendid when you take a selfie to put on your Instagram page. It all sounds a little over the top, but isn’t that the whole point? Go forth and show your appreciation for Aubrey Graham.

SUNDAY, JUNE 5

The Sydney Swap Meet is hitting Ambush Gallery once again this Sunday, where the country’s biggest sneaker enthusiasts will gather to sell and trade some considerable heat. Expect to see kicks that cost more than your monthly rent, and more than a few bargains too! If you’re looking to pick up some new footwear or just want to see some very rare goods IRL, then this is the place to be – whether you’re an Air Max fanatic or a passionate Puma fan. Streetwear heavyweights like Halfsleeve will be present, while the Saintside clique will be making the pilgrimage from Melbourne for the jam. We’ll also have a table at the Swap Meet, so come say hello and buy yourself a pair of TNs for cheap. Gold coin entry is also a winner!
