Homegrown talent George Maple is now based in Los Angeles, and has been making good use of her time by performing at Coachella and collaborating with the likes of GoldLink and Rome Fortune – and here comes her welcome home party! Maple will be kick-starting her biggest national tour tonight in Sydney, complete with a live band and new material. Speaking on her fresh live show, Maple says that she’s “going through a very bold and theatrical phase with my music and everything I’m working on creatively. I’ll be exploring the whole sex money power theme in full effect, I hope to bring the audience into my twisted universe.” Sound fun? Head along early and catch UV Boi on support duties.
Support your local girl gang! Presented by our pals at IZMZ Magazine, this party presents the freshest sound across the hip-hop spectrum with a little UK flavour thrown into the mix for good measure. As always, the decks commanded by an all-female lineup and showcase the huge amount of talent we have in our own backyard. In-house selectors Anissa, Yemisul and Ebony Boadu will all be present, while Helena Ellis, Kimchi Princi and Matka round off the special guests. We can tell you from personal experience that these parties get very packed, very early – head down before 10:00pm to get entry at a grand total of zero dollars.
A few weeks back, DJ Levins threw a Justin Vs Justin party to ultimately decide who is the superior pop star. Sides were divided between Timberlake and Bieber at the sold-out event, and it seems like we still haven’t reached a unanimous decision, because it’s going down once more at Plan B Small Club! This time around, it won’t only be Bieber and Timberlake on the speakers: Levins has added sets dedicated to their respective ex-girlfriends, Selena Gomez and Britney Spears to the fold. We can only hope to hear ‘Toxic‘ at least 34 times.
We’ve had some very late and very sweaty nights at Chinese Laundry – we can’t even count the amount of amazing producers that have performed here, and Sydney’s infamously dim dancefloor will be heaving once more this Saturday night. Longtime local dance favourites The Aston Shuffle will be taking over for a DJ set, with Isaac Tichauer to keep the house vibes flowing all night long.
Elusive Sydney collective STRXNGER threw their first party at The Lord Gladstone some weeks ago, and the second edition is going down this Sunday. Close your weekend off with a serious bang in the upstairs gallery of the Chippendale pub, featuring our boy JORDVN and a tonne of others delivering future club and rap sounds. Bonus points: The Lord Gladstone will also be showing the UFC, so head along and watch Brock Lesnar bash someone before the party.
